Roman Marble Pilaster Capital

A Western Roman marble lessena in the Corinthian order. It has been carved with a running drill and pointed out with a chisel on the back and top. No repair or restoration.

 

Flavian, 1st Century AD

 

Height: 37 cm.     (14 9/16 in.)

Width: 56 cm.     (22 1/16 in.)

Depth: 10 cm.     (3 15/16 in.)

Acquired by Antiquarium, Ltd. in 1986 from a private New York collection.
